Job Title: Intellectual Disability Nurse
Responsibilities:
As an Intellectual Disability Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include:
· Providing Compassionate Care: Delivering person-centered care to meet the unique needs of each individual, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
· Assessment and Planning: Conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized care plans, and setting realistic goals for the clients.
· Medication Management: Administering medications, adhering to the prescribed schedules, and closely monitoring their effects.
· Health Monitoring: Regularly monitoring clients’ health status, identifying any changes, and taking appropriate actions.
· Communication: Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, therapists, and support staff, to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
· Advocacy: Serving as an advocate for clients, promoting their rights, dignity, and autonomy.
· Family and Community Engagement: Building positive relationships with clients’ families and engaging them in the care process. Involving clients in community activities and promoting social inclusion.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
· Education: Possession of a valid nursing degree and registration as an Intellectual Disability Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
· Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is highly desirable.
· Compassionate Nature: Demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach towards clients and their families.
· Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
